Literature

Updates

  • Repetition Exam: The repetition exam will take place on February 21 from 9:30 - 11:30 am in the lecture hall of the USM.
  • Exam: The exam will take place on Friday, Feb. 9 from 12:15 - 14:15 in the USM Lecture Hall. Only pens & calculators are allowed. All formulas and quantities will be given on the exam sheets and will look like this.
  • 09.01.2018 - Tutorial 9: The tutorial for exercise sheet #9 (originally planned for January 12) is shifted to January 19. Sheet #10 will be posted on January 19 and will be due on January 26.
  • 04.12.2017 - Tutorial 6: There was a typo in question 1. The sound crossing time scale should be \(t_\mathrm{sound} = \frac{2\,R}{c_\mathrm{s}}\) instead of \(t_\mathrm{sound} = \frac{2\,r}{c_\mathrm{s}}\). The PDF was updated.
  • On December 1st there will be no lecture and no exercises. The exercise sheet will be due the following week.
  • November 15, 2018: The substitutions in long and short wavelength limit should be \(x = \frac{h\,c}{\lambda\,k\,T}\) (the \(\lambda\) was missing). The lecture notes for lecture 4 have been corrected and updated.
  • November 13, 2018: There were minus signs missing in the derivation of the disk vertical structure. The final result was correct. The lecture notes for lecture 4 have been corrected and updated.
