Zoom
For the online lectures we will be using Zoom. It is recommended to
use the zoom application that is available for most operating
systems, but there is also the option to join from the browser.
The zoom support pages have a range of video introductions to the
systems. You can find them in English and in
German.
Zoom etiquette:
Please follow the guidelines below for our zoom lectures.
-
Set your true name as username.
Otherwise you are not recognizable. We might have to remove
participants without proper name if problems arise.
-
Stay muted unless you're talking to reduce background noise.
Participants are muted by default. If you want to ask a
question, use the "Raise Hand" button in the participats
panel first. If the lecturer does not notice, unmute
yourself and state that you have a question.
-
Use the annotation feature only if you are asking a question
and erase the drawing immediately after.
-
Check your internet speed,
for example on zoom.us/test. If
you are on public wifi you may need to keep your camera off
to improve quality. If possible use an ethernet (wired)
connection.
-
Be aware of what's in your background
if you turn on video. Have a blank wall behind you or turn
on the virtual background.
-
If features like annotation or unmuting are misuesd, we will
have to deactivate them for everyone.
